Entangled Spellbound Trilogy #1 Spellbound series eBook Nikki Jefford Reviews
I really liked Graylee and it was such fun going through all the ups and downs of her angsty relationships with her peers while she alternated days in her twin sister Charlene’s body. Since it was necessary to pretend she was Charlene, that of course was cause for much of the angst. But, there was also plenty of angst for those peers who knew her true identity and situation. I really like the way the author handled all of that!
There’s Graylee’s attraction to bad boy Raj (whom she did not want to be attracted to) plus her need to pretend she liked Charlene’s boyfriend (whom she really couldn’t stand) and then her quest for some way to get her own body back. Since they’re witches and warlocks, there’s plenty of magic and that just adds to all the fun.
There’s lots of humor mixed in amongst the drama, keeping the reader fully entertained. I loved the premise and I loved how well the author developed the characters. Once you start reading this story, you really won’t want to put the book down. This is the first in a trilogy but, nonetheless, it ends well enough without any of those annoying cliffhangers. That said, I immediately downloaded the other two books to continue experiencing more of Graylee!
A fast, easy read about witches in high school that I zipped through in a day. Good pace, nice twists in the plot with a spell or two gone awry. A tad too many hormones and insinuations and things like blouse buttons bursting off to reveal lacy bras for my tastes, but for those who don’t mind, it’s a compelling and light read. (Just don’t take it too seriously, folks, and it’s more fun). And the relationship between Graylee and Raj seems more like hormones than love, but hey, it does take place in high school. I was curious as to why Charlene ended up the way she did; I would’ve liked to know her motivations for her actions—Why does she sleep around, mess with Graylee’s powers, and try to kill people? I suppose it did make for good conflict and contrast, to have one witch with evil intentions.
I haven’t read very many witch stories, so Entangled was a new style of book for me and I love it. Nikki Jefford does an amazing job keeping you on your toes and giving the story so many twists and turns you can’t put it down. “Entangled” captivates you from the start. Graylee and her identical twin Charlene will have you on the edge of your seat. Gray is amazingly strong, independent girl who seems to defy death at every turn but first comes back having to share her twin sister’s body 50% of the time. Charlene is just a piece of work. I have never read a character so narcissistic to the extreme. Gray wouldn’t get through all that her sister and Charlene’s side kick Ryan has put her through without the help of amazingly, handsome, and sweet Raj – who see’s Gray for who “she” is even though she is in Charlene’s body. The ending is jaw dropping and the whole story is worth every minute of your time. Nikki Jefford’s supporting characters add so much to the story as well, especially Adrian the Avenger. I can’t wait to continue reading about Gray’s adventures in the next two books. Don’t miss an enchanting story, “Entangled” book one of The Spellbound Trilogy by Nikki Jefford.
This book had its highs and lows, so I settled for a 3 ½ star rating. I fell in love with the covers of the books and the synopsis drew me in. I really did want to love this book, but it just didn’t completely do it for me.
The way it started drew me in instantly and I loved how it was dramatic and made a great introduction of the two sisters. I immediately knew that I didn’t like Charlene, but completely loved Gray. So even though it was a bit long and took a bit to get to Gray dying, it was a good beginning.
This is told in two separate POV’s, those being Gray and Raj. OH Raj…. (insert swoon here) LOL he’s a such a bad boy image proven wrong by his sweetness and genuine caring. LOVE HIM! ANYWAY… the different point of views makes the story even better because you get a sense of both sides and it draws you even more in.
I wish that there were more events leading up to Gray finding out about what her sister was doing, it felt way too abrupt. So really the story was just a bit…confusing? Maybe that is not the right word, but I really don’t know how else to describe it right now. Some things are drawn out and too detailed, while others seem to happen too fast to really get a feel for it. Also, sometimes it seems a bit jumpy, like from one scene to another without much connection.
BUT overall, this was an enjoyable read and I liked the concept. Since I have the entire set I will happily read what happens next. I do recommend you guys give this a try!
