My first Meghan read but definitely won't be my last. This book has had it all for me, ugly-cries, laugh out loud moments, ridiculousness, loving friends, shaky pasts, turbulent emotions, and I couldn't have asked for more. I bought this book because of the front model and blurb alone and know I couldn't have made a more perfect purchase! This book was so good that now I am reluctant to reading co-wrecker because I just LOVED Tucker so much, I'm probably not gonna love Sadie's HEA but I'll get there.

My Best Friend Ex The Binghamton Series Book 2 edition by Meghan Quinn Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Holy moly. This book was not what I was expecting, but it was a pleasant surprise. I expected some dark and heavy emotions and lots and lots of sex. Yes there was some of both, but the surprise factor was how much I laughed through this book. I did not expect this to be a rom com and I was pleasantly surprised and entertained.

Tucker has closed himself off from his old friends because of his breakup with Sadie a year ago. His hometown friends went their own ways (college and what not) and Tucker wasn't in to college so he went his own way and drifted apart from them. Enter Emma in need a new place to live pronto. Tucker offers her a room at his house and their friendship rekindles.

Of course, more than friendship ignites between these two. C'mon, who didn't expect that. What I really liked was Tucker realizing he wasn't ok and needed to straighten out his head before he did more damage to Emma. I love that he started journaling. That's a hard thing to do. It's even harder to be honest with yourself in your journal. And then to share it. Kudos to Tucker and Ms. Quinn for exploring all of this.

Any book that can make me laugh as hard as I did throughout the book is definitely a five star read. It's been awhile since I've enjoyed a book this much.
I’ve read many of Meghan Quinn’s books over the last two years, and each one has been fantastic. She always manages to surprise me with her writing. Some of the funniest things I’ve ever read have been within the pages of one of her novels, but if I’m being honest some of the most deeply moving things have been there as well. Quinn is stealthy like that, though. She gears you up for a romcom, entertaining you with the characters’ antics and witty, well-executed banter, and then when you least expect it, she delivers a blow to the feels that you absolutely were not expecting. I love this about her, and it’s one of the many reasons why she is an auto-buy author for me.

Quinn’s readers met the sexy, broody, broken Tucker Jameson in Co-Wrecker. We got a glimpse of the pain this man carried around in that book, but it was here within My Best Friend’s Ex where Quinn peeled back his layers and gave readers a good look at this complicated, soulful man. I fell really hard for Tucker Jameson, aching for him as he dealt with his past and slowly let his walls down to allow himself to open up to the love Emma was offering him so freely.

This was such a beautiful, passionate and emotional love story, and it drew me right in from the very beginning. I laughed, I swooned and my heart soared with Emma and Tucker as they discovered and fought for their love. This book had it all – plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, a surprising amount of emotion and some serious steam. My Best Friend’s Ex by Meghan Quinn gets five smooches from me.
~ Danielle Palumbo
After his girlfriend miscarried, Tucker's life quickly devolved into a barren wasteland. Sadie left him, and not too long afterwards found herself another guy, while Tucker was left alone in the house he'd bought in the hope of making a home for his new family.

If that weren't enough, their entire shared circle of friends closed ranks in support of Sadie, leaving him essentially cut out of their lives.

All of that was a year ago. A year in which, despite the distractions offered by his work and the two good friends he works with, Tucker has wallowed in the desolation his life has become.

Emma, one of those aforementioned friends, the natural caretaker among them, after finding herself unexpectedly needing somewhere new to live with only a few months left in her nursing degree. A chance encounter has her not only accepting Tucker's offer of a place to stay, but resolving to somehow make up for being so caught up in supporting Sadie that she'd failed to be a friend of any kind to him.

I really connected with this book, and the character of Tucker in particular. Healing and moving on from that kind of loss is something that can only be done once the person is actually ready to move on, and as the story opens, Tucker wasn't at all sure that would ever happen.

Oddly enough, for a book centered around such a morose theme, My Best Friend's Ex by Meghan Quinn was a surprisingly funny and uplifting book filled with quirky humor, awkward situation and colorful characters.

Though it picks up in the wake of Co-Wrecker which tells the story of Sadie and Andrew, this book can nevertheless easily be read as a standalone, or even in reverse order.

Overall I loved this book. It made me feel things cold and icky, things warm and fuzzy, and had a few really raunchy bits too for those of us who're into such things.

Highly recommended.
